2nd Masters vs. Doctoral Degree

Today while sitting in the Teacher’s Lounge, working on the start of my 8th class with Lamar University, one of my co-workers asked me why I was working on a second master’s. My reply to her was because I don’t have the time to dedicate to the dissertation process. To basically make a long story short, she told me that the time that I am currently devoting to this second master’s could have been time devoted to a worthier degree. I agree with her totally that the doctorate degree is a very reputable accomplishment in a person’s life, but just not for me.

Research, writing, data analysis, and long hours just do not fit into my schedule right now. Being a full-time teacher, taking care of my mom, and deciding to get a degree in Professional School Counseling clearly suffices for me.
