Have you ever wanted something more for your life, but you were too skeptical or afraid to go after it? Have you ever wanted to do something important with your life, but you did not know how to make time to accomplish that goal?
A year ago I was a wife, mother, daughter, sister and employee. I was busy tending to the needs of my children and their activities while maintaining a successful career. When I could, I stole time to reconnect with my husband who also worked full time and had a very busy schedule of his own. My life felt hectic, but wonderful! My life was fulfilling and complete (or so I thought). I did not think I could fit another responsibility into my day-to-day life.
With the support of my family, and a lot of faith, I applied for college enrollment. I selected the online program at Lamar University due to the flexibility it offered.”
A year ago, however, that all changed when I embarked on the greatest transformation of my life since becoming a mother. After receiving a promotion at work, I realized I can do more than I ever imagined! The added responsibility at work made me evaluate what I wanted from life, and I set new goals to achieve them. I was identified as Mom for so long that I forgot to be Robin. Growing up, I was a good student who always sought the best in others. As an adult, I am a natural leader who encourages others to seek greatness and achieve their goals. But, I realized I was not expecting the same from myself. I was content with my life the way it was. I was comfortable with the success I had and did not seek new challenges. I realized this was not in sync with the lessons I shared with my children or peers at work.
With the support of my family, and a lot of faith, I applied for college enrollment. I selected the online program at Lamar University due to the flexibility it offered. At first, I was skeptical about whether I would have enough time to be successful in my courses and still have time for my husband and children. By the end of my first semester with Lamar University, I was elated with my progress and eager to begin another semester. I have been participating in the program for a year now and I am pleased to boast a 4.0 GPA. I found the classes fit into my weekends easily with little disruption to my family or work schedule.
The best part of enrolling in the online program is the confidence my success has given me.”
The best part of enrolling in the online program is the confidence my success has given me. I found my brilliance unexpectedly at Lamar University. Now, I am no longer skeptical about what I can achieve. I am no longer afraid to go after my dreams. My decision to go back to school was one of the best decisions I’ve made in the past decade. I am excited to see where this new path will lead because education is the key to open the doors of opportunity.
Thank you, Lamar U, for helping me find brillianceunexpectedly.
