LU Brings Balance

By Katie Barlow

Since I’m balancing work and school on top of my tiny family, it’s important to balance everything. I started my journey with LU to start my way into nursing school. Recently I got an opportunity at my new job to become DOT drug-screen certified and I passed. I’m now one step closer medically to my RN, but I still have a long way to go academically, which is where LU comes in.

Lamar University allows me to take classes and fit them into my work schedule instead of fitting work into my school schedule. LU has been a lifesaver for me. I can better balance work, school and my family by taking courses online that do not interfere with my work schedule. Since I’m working full time, it’s hard to fit much into my life outside of that, but LU has worked with me, and the administration has answered every question I’ve had.

Lamar University allows me to take classes and fit them into my work schedule instead of fitting work into my school schedule.

This next semester I’m taking two mini-sessions at eight weeks a piece instead of one full 15-week session, so I’m super excited. The eight-week mini-sessions go by quicker and I’m very happy my advisor was able to enroll me in the mini-sessions. I’m hoping the shorter sessions will go by quicker. I’ll keep y’all updated on my studies and how the eight-week sessions work out.
