Career highlights:
Served as executive director of The Symphony of Southeast Texas (professional regional symphony orchestra) from 2007-2014 before joining Lamar University College of Business faculty full-time. Eliminated all debt and financial borrowing; stabilized the symphony's annual budget; and oversaw improved Board effectiveness, increased season ticket sales, and increased donations following two years of a successful music director search. Serves on numerous local boards. Named one of Southeast Texas' 40 Under 40 Outstanding Young Professionals.

Why did you start teaching in the online program?
When Lamar added a B.B.A. online, as a previous distance education faculty member, it was a natural transition for me to teach in the fully online degree plan. As a passionate advocate for new technology, I am constantly interested in the challenge of how to make the online educational experience the best it can be for our students.

What's the best advice that you ever received from one of your professors?
Worry is only relevant to the degree that the issue you are worrying about affects your ability to do your job well.

What's the most important thing you want students to take away from your class?
An outstanding quote by author Jim Collins: "Greatness is not a function of circumstance. Greatness...is largely a matter of conscious choice and discipline." - Good to Great

From whom have you drawn the most inspiration as you've built your career?
My family and friends, Jim Collins, Peter Drucker, Daniel Pink, and Adam Grant.
