National Career Development Association Leadership Academy Class of 2017, Excellence in Advising Award recipient in 2008 from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and receiving a student evaluation saying my webinars were the best they had ever seen.

M.Ed. in School Counseling and M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

Why did you start teaching?
As a professional in the field, I realized there was a need for advocacy in our profession for underrepresented college student groups. I wanted to teach other counselors how to be advocates for those who may not feel they have a voice.

What's the best advice that you ever received?
Good people help because help can't wait.

What's the best advice that you could give your students?
Keep all of the resources you receive in class in a folder on your desktop. You may not use them now, but when you are a counselor, this folder will be a lifeline.

Man's Search for Meaning by Victor Frankl

What qualities make someone particularly successful in counseling?
I love what I do; I love what I teach; I love to have conversations with others about our profession and advocacy for clients.

Tell us something your students may not know about you:
I have competed in the Founders Cup World Kickball Championship tournament in Las Vegas...twice!
