Our online M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling gives you the skills and knowledge to provide clinical counseling to a broad population in a range of settings. The program also includes intensive practicum and internship experiences.
The Clinical Mental Health Program at Lamar University is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) for the period of two years through 2018.
Upon graduation from the M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, you will be able to employ a variety of counseling strategies and techniques to help clients in many types of clinical and treatment settings. This will require graduates of our program to apply for licensure credentials to become recognized as a professional counselor in their state.
As certification requirements may vary by state and change without notice, it is the responsibility of the student to:
- Confirm the requirements for certification and/or licensure in their home state
- Evaluate and understand state requirements related to online education, out-of-state educational programs, and licensure requirements
- Find out if any additional coursework, practice, and/or testing requirements must be met in order to be eligible for certification and/or licensure.
