GRE Policy

For applicants to graduate programs in the College of Education and Human Development (online and on campus), students with a 3.0 GPA undergrad or 3.0 in their last 60 hours are admitted unconditionally. Students required to take the GRE must meet the institutional GRE and GPA standard.

GRE taken after August 2011:
Undergraduate GPA (cumulative or last 60 hours, whichever is higher) x 50 + GRE Verbal + GRE quantitative =/or greater than 428.

Appeals Process:

Students not meeting the standard 428 must retake the GRE and submit their scores for additional consideration. Appeals may not be processed without the results of a second GRE attempt.

Upon reporting the first GRE may retake the GRE and submit their scores for additional consideration or they may appeal. Appeals may not be processed without submitting the results of at least one GRE attempt. All appeal decisions are final. Students whose GPAs fall below 2.5 at the Bachelor's level, unless they have at least 15 post-baccalaureate hours that can be averaged for a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5, or a higher degree, will not be considered for admission.

The College encourages all applicants to take the test as early as possible. Note: The new scoring compresses the reporting matrix and according to ETS presents a more test-taker friendly design.
