How has this degree affected your professional outlook? What about personally?

My degree from Lamar University gave me the skills and confidence to lead schools to 21st century learning. I graduated ready to tackle the challenges of education today. I received an assistant principal position just weeks after graduation.

What was your single biggest takeaway from the program?

Leadership is something that can be taught and people can be grown.

How much time per week did you spend on your studies?

10-15 hours.

Describe how having an online option made a degree more accessible for you.

In a fast paced world—while juggling teaching, coaching, and having children—I had to be able to work when I had time. For me, school was not an option until after 8pm and Lamar made it possible for me to achieve my dream of having a master's degree in educational administration.

What was one of the biggest challenges during the program, and how did you overcome it?

My biggest challenge was juggling everything.

How did you hear about the online degree programs at Lamar University?

Lamar came to my former campus in Grapevine Colleyville ISD.

Why did you choose to earn your advanced degree from Lamar University?

100% online.

What advice would you give to a prospective student who is considering this program?

Keep your eye on the prize...It's only 18 months and you will walk away with a master's degree from a wonderful university.

What helped you get through the program the most? What helped you make it to the finish line?

Knowing my own children and students were watching me helped me get through the program. I wanted my children and students to see the value in education.

Describe your family's thoughts and feelings about you earning your degree.

As a first generation degree holder, my family was extremely proud.

If you could do it all over again, what would you do differently?

Continued right into my doctoral degree...As educators we never stop learning.
