  • How has this degree affected your professional outlook? What about personally?

    Obtaining my degree for master's in education for school counseling has allowed me to reach my goals and become the professional who I always dreamed to be. This degree has opened many doors for me and has allowed for me to acquire several leadership roles.

  • What was your single biggest takeaway from the program?

    My biggest takeaway from the program is being mentally and physically prepared to pass my test and to be proficient as a counselor.

  • How much time per week did you spend on your studies?

    20+ hours.

  • Describe how having an online option made a degree more accessible for you.

    Being able to complete a degree online was very convenient for my family. Without this opportunity I would have not been able to go back to school.

  • Why did you choose to earn your advanced degree from Lamar University?

    There are not a lot of programs that are available online and affordable. Lamar has a lot of competitive programs that are affordable and you can earn a degree right from home.

  • What advice would you give to a prospective student who is considering this program?

    The advice that I would give someone who is considering this program is to make sure you are the type of learner who can work on your own pace and make sure you do not need an individual instructing you face-to-face.

  • What helped you get through the program the most? What helped you make it to the finish line?

    Having a group of individuals that I communicated with on a weekly basis through webinars helped me get through this program and make it to the finish line. Also having a supportive family who was there for me every step of the way.

  • Describe your family's thoughts and feelings about you earning your degree.

    My family was very proud of me for going back to school to get a higher education. I love the fact that my kids looked up to me and it felt like I was their hero. My husband was very proud of me and he expressed that every day.

  • If you could do it all over again, what would you do differently?

    There is nothing I would do differently.
