Happy New Year’s Eve! This evening I am headed to Oklahoma to see my first Don Henley concert. In the eighties, when I was a “big-haired” teenager, my heart raced when The Eagles came on the radio. Well, now, as a single mom in the 21st Century, my heart still races at the thought of seeing one of my idols in person.

This concert comes as a wonderful reward during a much-needed break from school. I am in my first semester of studying Clinical Mental Health at Lamar University. It has been my dream to work on my master’s degree. Lamar makes that possible through their online services. I can hardly believe I’m working a full-time job, rearing four older children as a single mother, and going to school. I am so appreciative of this opportunity. And, it will be fun to blog about this journey over the next several semesters.

Off to the concert!

Happy New Year Y’all!
