Leigh Ann Eckols

When I was asked to blog about my graduate school experience, I was hesitant to add another task to my ever-growing to-do list, yet, here I am blogging. My name is Leigh Ann. I have had a circuitous route back into education. My first major was education, but I changed to psychology, thinking I wanted to become an educational counselor. I then went to graduate school, but after my internship, I decided the career wasn’t for me. I fell into an enjoyable career of human resources, management, and training.

I was living out of state when my family suggested I might be interested in becoming a teacher. I thought it was an odd suggestion since I hadn’t thought about that career since college. I mulled it over, moved back to Texas, and obtained education credits. I enjoyed student teaching and eventually taught Pre-K, Kindergarten and 2nd grade, in Special Education and General Education. I am now in a collaborative role with parents and teachers as an ARD Facilitator. I am pursuing a M. Ed. – Special Education to aid me in this new role.
