2nd Grade ESL Teacher, Austin ISD

I guess I’m one of the few lucky online students who decided that being a full-time employee, student, and wife wasn’t enough. No, I need more things to do and writing 15-page reports isn’t enough! And that is the end of my sarcastic rant. But all jokes aside, I’m honored to have the opportunity to write for Lamar University and all my fellow online classmates.

Before shaping the minds of our future, I deemed myself a writer of sorts. Yes, I was the kid always writing on my hands, used napkins, old cardboard, and occasionally actual loose leaf paper. I’ve written song lyrics, poems, short stories, long stories, and medium stories. Most recently, I started my very own blog. I would do a shameless plug right now, but I’m sure it wouldn’t make it through editing. (Editor’s note: totally did!)

So, I’m a 31-year-old second grade teacher living in Austin, TX working towards my Master of Education in School Counseling. I’m in my second year of marriage and own the cutest 95 lb. Doberman ever! When I’m not teaching or slaving away at discussion board posts, I play acoustic guitar, write (duh!), post pictures of food on Instagram, and spend time having fun outdoors with my family.

I’m more than excited to be a contributing blogger for Lamar University as it gives me another way to connect with my classmates, and honestly, I just like to write! To me, it’s like talking except I have more time to think of ways to be super cheesy and super clever. My hope is to use my own experiences as an online student to inspire others so we can all make it to graduation day together. Life is hard and school in my 30’s is harder, but I can do this! You can do this! We can do this, but on days that we can’t, we’ll cry about it and wish we were back in undergrad. Go Cardinals!

We Can’t Do This Alone!
