    2012

  • What's the best advice you have ever received from one of your professors?

Always say yes to a clinical or writing opportunity. The "how" will come later!

  • Which philanthropic causes are you involved with?

I give back to the local community via our Cardinal Clinic. I provide $1,000 worth of free services monthly to clients in the clinic.

  • What’s the most important thing you want students to take away from your class?

A sense of passion about their chosen profession. What we do is so fun! I want students to get a sense of that!

  • What qualities do you think make someone particularly successful in your field?

A willingness to invite people into the process. Compassion. Diagnostic acumen.

  • What's the funniest thing that has happened in one of your classes?

I was once sitting at a table with interns. My chair was on wheels, and the seat was (apparently) broken. I started falling out of the chair in the middle of supervision and slid slowly under the table. The funny part was my students say I kept making my point! I never quit talking!

  • Who would play you in your biopic and why?

Mariska Hargitay. Just because I like her :-)
