  • Why did you start teaching?

You might say it is in my bloodline. My mother and maternal grandmother were teachers, along with aunts, uncles, cousins and others. I would play school even before I was in school. I have always loved helping others to love not only learning, but reading as well

  • What's the best advice that you could give your students?

If you really want to be successful, you must work hard now. Never give up. Network with those who are in the position you would like to be in later. Never listen to or spend valuable time with those who discourage you from achieving your goals.

The Energy Bus by Jon Gordon.

Discipline, organization, and the abilities to communicate consistently (written & oral), operate technology, think critically and strategically, manage time wisely and meet deadlines.

  • What do you think is the biggest challenge that people in the profession face today?

We must be able to grow professionally by staying up to date on new information, knowledge and skills. We must consistently write, research and read. We also must be able to manage our time effectively.

  • Tell us something your students may not know about you.

I love reading, writing, adult coloring, scrapbooking, genealogy, traveling and encouraging others to reach their goals. I lead a ministry called the Graduation Ministry. It helps to prepare students for college.
