How did you hear about the online degree programs at Lamar University?
Allen ISD promoted the program.
How has this degree affected your professional outlook? What about personally?
My master's degree not only prepared me for the work I would embark upon, but it has also opened doors to professional opportunities that would not have been available to me without my degree. It pushed me to think with a bigger picture in mind and provided me with opportunities to serve in greater capacities to impact the learning and the lives of more students.
What was your single biggest takeaway from the program?
Continue to learn, get better, and aspire to be my very best every day for the students and staff that I serve. Carry a growth mindset always and serve others first!
How much time per week did you spend on your studies?
Describe how having an online option made a degree more accessible for you.
An innovative, blended program was my only option. My extracurricular responsibilities limited my availability to physically attend classes on any given weeknight. This program provided the avenue I needed to further my education and allowing me to pursue professional opportunities that were aligned with my career goals.
What was one of the biggest challenges during the program, and how did you overcome it?
The most challenging was balancing my time and also adjusting to the online program without the traditional face-to-face instructional time.
Why did you choose to earn your advanced degree from Lamar University?
Lamar is a great university that provided an innovative avenue to earn my master's degree without compromising the rigor of the coursework so that I was fully prepared for future opportunities in education administration.
What advice would you give to a prospective student who is considering this program?
Don't wait to get started. There will never be a perfect time to start...go for it!
