The M.Ed. in Special Education with Educational Diagnostician Certification online is designed to help certified teachers develop the specialized skillset and knowledge base to assess and diagnose exceptional students. This M.Ed. program will teach you how to understand special education law and policy, use evidence-based practices, monitor response to intervention and individualize intervention based on assessed needs.
This online program meets the course requirements to become an Educational Diagnostician certified by the Texas State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC).
Upon completion of this M.Ed. program, you will be prepare to:
- Interpret the results of evaluation data to parents and other professionals
- Work with the multidisciplinary team to plan and incorporate appropriate teaching methods, materials and mastery level into the individual education plans of exceptional students
- Assist public schools by possessing knowledge of compliance issues regarding federal and state laws and rules and regulations that affect exceptional students
- Understand the importance of the child centered process in all aspects of education.
For students considering Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, Educational Diagnostician, Principal Certificate or Superintendent Certificate, or any other academic program that leads to professional licensure in a state outside of Texas, please contact the applicable licensure board(s) in the state you want to pursue licensure, prior to beginning the academic program, in order to determine whether the program meets licensure requirements. It is the student’s responsibility to confirm program eligibility for licensure in any state outside of Texas.
