Applicants for the RN to BSN program must meet the university's standard requirements for admission, as well as the following:

  • Complete online application and pay a one-time application fee of $25
  • Submit official transcripts from all high schools, colleges, and universities you have attended
  • Admission to the Nursing Program
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Students with a cumulative GPA between 2.0 & 2.49 may be admitted to enroll in general core requirements until reaching a GPA of 2.5
  • Current unencumbered licensure to practice professional nursing
  • Students must have an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing (AAS or ADN) or have a Diploma in Nursing from an accredited program

Students perform comprehensive patient-centered holistic health assessments to identify health promotion, risk assessment, and disease prevention behaviors. Prerequisites: Admission to the RN-BSN Articulation Track; BIOL 2401, BIOL 2402, and BIOL 2420 with a grade of C or better.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

Emphasis of this capstone course is for the RN-BSN student to synthesize knowledge, clinical reasoning, clinical judgment, best practices, and priority setting necessary in the development of the BSN professional role. Prerequisites: NURS 4321, 4316, 4391, 4540, 4620, 4550 and all required non-nursing courses

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Analyze factors that facilitate development into the professional baccalaureate role including active inquiry, lifelong learning, and the impact of global health
  • Apply the nursing process for diverse populations consistent with theories, evidence-based practice (EBP), and systems-based practices as a basis for compassionate, holistic multidimensional care across the lifespan
  • Utilize clinical reasoning and clinical judgment skills to practice safe patient/client-centered care for patients and families in collaboration with the interprofessional and intraprofessional healthcare team

Explores advanced concepts of compromised multiple health states in the care of adult patients and families. Emphasizes and demonstrates the developing role of the professional nurse, including patient advocate and a member of the interprofessional and intraprofessional healthcare team using clinical reasoning and judgment skills to provide safe, compassionate, holistic, multidimensional nursing care. Course integrates a systems-based approach, informatic technology, nursing theory, research, and evidence-based practice as a foundation of patient-centered care. Focus is on adult patients with compromised multiple health states and their families. Prerequisites: NURS 4321, 4316, 4391.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Apply nursing theories influencing the holistic/multidimensional needs of adult patients with chronic disease and compromised multiple health states in order to promote health, provide restorative and supportive care, and the clinical prevention of disease
  • Develop a plan of care using evidence-based standards of care and integrated findings from structured and unstructured data collection tools for patients with chronic disease and compromised multiple health states
  • Develop teaching plans for adult patients and families dealing with chronic disease, compromised multiple health states, and hospice or palliative care considering safety and cultural, spiritual, ethnic, and social diversity
