Admissions

Being admitted to our online MSN in Nursing Administration program

The Master of Science in Nursing in Nursing Administration online program has specific requirements that applicants must meet to enroll. Please read the admission guidelines to ensure you qualify.

Admission Requirements:

  • Online Application
  • Official Transcripts
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Current RN License

  • Complete online application and pay a one-time application fee of $25
  • Official transcripts from all colleges/universities attended
  • GPA of 3.0 overall or higher (or for the last 60 hours of college coursework). This includes any graduate hours that may have been acquired.
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from a nationally accredited nursing program such as the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and/or ACEN
  • Current unencumbered, verifiable Registered Nurse (RN) license from any state in the United States covered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing
  • College statistics course with a grade of “C” or better. Conditional admission without statistics course but must be completed prior to MSNC 5311 (Nursing Research). Students are strongly recommended to repeat college statistics if they have not had it within the past five years.

*All applicants must submit official transcript(s) indicating: 1) The conferred bachelor's or master's degree as required for the program of application from a regionally accredited US institution or its equivalent. 2) The transcript of the most recent attendance if it differs from the institution of the conferred degree. This requirement applies regardless of the length of time in attendance and regardless of whether credit was earned or is desired. However, if a department or program wishes to review additional transcripts from prior attendance for decision purposes, the department or program may directly request the applicant to submit the official transcript(s) to the Office of Admissions for processing. Students must be eligible to re-enter all colleges and universities previously attended. Failure to disclose previous college attendance is justification for revocation of acceptance and dismissal from Lamar University.

Students are expected to analyze and critique research literature for scientific merit, and to discuss the practical application of scientific findings for practice. Prerequisites: MSNC 5310.

This course will analyze professional, social and workplace issues related to the advanced nursing role within the context of health care policy and a diverse health care system.
