Career Highlights:

The highlight of my career is the people that I interact with and the lives I have influenced either through my clinical practice or while working in academia. I have been privileged to meet many amazing people and share, if only for a brief time, in their life's journey. Those moments when you touch someone's life and become, in even the smallest way, a positive force are the greatest reward.

Which classes do you teach online?

Physical Assessment.

Why did you start teaching?

I started teaching because I want to have a positive effect on nursing education.

What's the best advice that you ever received?

Live life to its fullest and make every day count. Sometimes, when you feel you are struggling the most is when you are living the most.

What's the best advice that you could give your students?

The best advice I can give my students is to make the most of the opportunities you have been provided. Utilize all of your available resources and make the most of your education. One can never have too much education or know too many people.

The Art of War by Sun Tzu

What qualities make someone particularly successful in the area in which you teach?

The qualities that I feel are most beneficial for a nurse are kindness, compassion, and a drive to continue learning. A nurse should never be willing to accept second best for either themselves or their client.

What do you think is the biggest challenge that people in the profession face today?

The biggest challenge faced by nurses is the changing healthcare system. It is resulting in caring for sicker patients for shorter periods of time.
