Another option is public relations. Public relations specialists handle the public perception of an organization, handling the press and media. Profita writes, “Communications majors are well positioned to think strategically about how to influence public perceptions through the media.” As of January 2020, PayScale reports the average salary of public relations specialists is $48,260 per year.

As you can see, a communications degree is one of the most versatile degrees a person can have. It opens the door to countless job opportunities and gives students the skills they need to be an asset in many industries. A bachelor’s in communications can also prepare students for graduate school, which can lead to more satisfying and higher-paying careers in many fields.
