Choosing the Right Technology for Your Classroom

In today’s ever-changing technology-driven world, students are learning at an even faster pace and step than before. A Master of Education in Educational Technology Leadership is geared to prepare educators to integrate and implement technology to aid in successfully teaching students. Today’s students are digital natives, and using technology is not only something they are accustomed to, it is something they cannot live without.

Technology in the classroom has become second nature for most educators, as it should in our modern times. With the availability of personal smart phones, iPads and tablets, using technology has become easier and easier. In fact, technology use is so common that educators really have no excuse not to integrate and implement it into their classes.

Master’s in Education Eechnology Opens Up Doors in the Classroom

One of the benefits of a master’s in education technology is the training you receive regarding how your students learn. Determining the needs and skill levels of your students is essential to developing a technology plan and implementations for your classroom.

So what do you invest in? As a classroom educator or leader in your school, it is important to understand the needs of your students. Determine their abilities and see what areas in the classroom need the most work. Do you want them to collaborate more? Do you want them to create more? What goal do you want to meet as a result of technology implementation? Once you have answered these questions and evaluated your student needs, you will be able to make decisions regarding your technology needs.

Students say that technology in the classroom helps them be more focused, provides more flow in the classroom and interaction with other students. Providing this opportunity for our students is essential to ensure their success.

According to a survey of 500 K-12 teachers, 78 percent believe technology has positively impacted the classroom and the productivity of students. Roughly 65 percent of educators surveyed also believe that students are more productive today than they were three years ago due to the increased reliance on technology in the classroom. Technology in the classroom is an opportunity that cannot be missed.
